Another hero ingredient.
#Astragalus. Pronounced “ass-tra-gal-us” is the next ingredient I want to showcase from my #Lymphatic #Support #Tea
It’s one of the 50 fundamental herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (#TCM). In fact it’s one of the most widely used immune tonifying herbs of TCM.
It’s often used to treat common colds and even man flu. But has been shown to have a positive effect across many other health issues also.
Astragalus is known to ease congestion and inflammation, including relief from seasonal allergies. But the reason I’ve chosen it for this tea is because studies show it causes an improvement in kidney function.
It also contains saponins that are known to be anti-inflammatory, cholesterol lowering, antifungal and antiparasitic. Look, it seems there’s not much this amazing plant can’t do, so I’ve added a link to some studies below so you can keep reading if you fancy.
Although this photo shows the flower of the plant, it’s often the root that’s used in medicinal tinctures, and it’s the root that I’ve used in this tea.
Astragalus is generally well tolerated but should be avoided if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an autoimmune disease or are taking immunosuppressant drugs.
