ENDERMOLOGIE FOR SCARS

Scar treatment with Endermologie

ENDERMOLOGIE FOR SCARS

Endermologie was first developed as a treatment for scars. In the early 1980s, a French engineer, Louis-Paul Guitay (LPG) was in a car accident and suffered burns and scars from surgery. To relieve fibrosis in the scarred areas, he underwent intensive manual massage, carried out by several different therapists. Although the manual massages gave some relief, he was frustrated by the fact that it was so painstakingly slow and uncomfortable, and the skill level varied between therapists. As an engineer, he sought to create a more consistent and effective solution.

He designed a machine that would deliver a rolling and kneading massage, with aspiration (negative pressure) to manipulate the tissues more effectively. And so, LPG Endermologie was 'born'. LPG went on to research the benefits of Endermologie thoroughly and the technique was used by medical professionals to treat scars with great success.

HOW DO SCARS FORM

Scarring is the body’s natural healing response to an injury to the skin such as an accident or an acne eruption. If nothing is done, this natural process can create an actual barrier, known as 'scar tissue'. Scar tissue can look unsightly, but also has the potential to interfere with cellular exchanges, limit your range of motion and cause pain.

THE ENDERMOLOGIE SOLUTION

'Endermologie' means 'through the dermis' in French. This scientifically proven treatment works through the skin to mobilise the underlying tissues and to cause positive change therein.

Medical endermologie for scars allows us to treat scars and burns painlessly, even at an early stage where it helps to reduce swelling and prevents the formation of scar adherences related to fibrosis.

Later, mobilising and gently stretching the tissue layers will soften the scar tissue. Increased oxygenation and stimulation of fibroblasts and collagen allow further improvement of the appearance of the skin/scar tissue in order to ease pain and restore mobility.

In the case of hypertrophic and keloid scars, we urge you to seek the advice of a specialist dermatologist as these scars may not respond as well to treatment with Endermologie.

WHEN CAN YOU USE ENDERMOLOGIE FOR SCARS?

  • Recent scars still showing signs of inflammation - to drain fluid build up and boost localised blood citculation for improved healing.
  • Old scars - to relieve fibrosis and re-invigorate the tissues for improved flexibility and a smoother appearance,
  • Surgical or traumatic scars - speed up post-op recovery of the scar tissue ad prevent fibrosis/adhesions after traumatic injuries.
  • Post-C-Section - mobilize the many layers of abdominal tissues to avoid potential adhesions which can have many consequences, e.g. local, pelvic, and lower back pain, urinary problems, skin laxity and fat build-up.

AFTER SURGERY, A BURN, OR ANY KIND OF TRAUMA, THE SKIN HEALS BY PRODUCING COLLAGEN WHERE THE WOUND IS
