Here’s a good rationale for why the whole “calorie-in…calorie-out” argument doesn’t work for everyone.
It goes a long way to explain why I can’t stand the phrase, and he’s only just touched on the effect of hormones in this equation. Throw in an ovarian cyst, endometriosis, PMT, menopause, pre and post pregnancy hormones etc. etc. into this mix and you can see why I always say “I never met a tasty calorie”.
I strongly believe that it’s almost impossible to over-eat on a truly healthy diet, so who cares what the calorie count is?
At the end of the day, the quality of the food you put into your body is the key factor to determining your health. Not how many units of energy that food has.
