Truth
So true. Every week on Facebook I see people asking for advice on a skin issue which cues hundreds of suggestions for different skincare products and brands and I’m in the corner thinking, nope, this person’s gotta start with their lifestyle.
.
For the most part, the products we use on our skin have very little effect. The best we can hope for in a product that’s been sold over the counter is an emollient (a barrier that’s helpful in retaining moisture in the skin) and a sunscreen that helps block harmful UV rays.
.
Some products can cause more harm than benefit, with chemicals, parabens and all sorts being added to commercial potions all on the name of anti-ageing or purportedly designed to fix some problem.
.
The reality is our skin is a living, breathing organ and it requires care from the inside out to look it’s best. Most skin issues are just symptoms of a bigger systemic issue – our bodies clever warning system alerting us to take a closer look at our lifestyle.
.
For the most part, reducing stress, eating a diet rich in varying non-processed foods, managing any gut issues, staying hydrated and exercising regularly will all result in clear, beautiful skin.
